Purpose:
The purpose of the Louisiana Junior Show Circuit (LJSC)is:
to further the education and cooperation of young people who are enrolled in 4H and FFA and are interested in livestock projects.
to promote the welfare of the Louisiana livestock industry
to provide opportunities for youth to acquire life skills such as: knowledge, responsibility, decision making, public speaking, and leadership through hands-on education and practice behavior that will enable them to become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society.
Age requirements:
LJSC members must be 7-19 years of age and must meet all of the requirements of the State Fair of Louisiana
Membership and Dues:
In order to be considered as an active member, the exhibitor must turn in their completed Membership Form and pay their dues of $10 per exhibitor. In order to receive points at a show, the exhibitor must be an active member prior to the beginning of the show. MEMBERS MUST SHOW IN THREE (3) LJSC SANCTIONED SHOWS IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR YEAR-END AWARDS.
Eligibility for Points:
The exhibitor must be an active member of the LJSC prior to the beginning of the show in order to receive points for that show.
Animals must be entered and shown by the individual LJSC member for the points to be accumulated in the member's name. The only exception is if the exhibitor has more than one animal in the same market class -- in this case, the animal may be shown by another members for points.
Point System:
Market Points:
All animals will be placed in each class at LJSC shows so that the points can be determined.
A member can not show an animal they do not own for LJSC points.
Members will receive points on their top two animals in each specie. (Example: If a members shows 4 pigs and 3 lambs at the show, then the only points that will count are the points received for the top two pigs and the top two lambs.)
Market Points will be determined by the following table:
