The Art of Music – High School Program
La Jolla Symphony & Chorus is excited to partner with The Preuss School UC San Diego on this educational program shepherded by artist-in-residence Jay Wolf Schlossberg-Cohen.
What is The Art of Music?
Music students at The Preuss School UC San Diego collaborate with the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus to create original music compositions. The Art of music connects young student composers to mentorship with the Nee Commission Prize winner to develop new chamber works. While LJS&C musicians play the new compositions, Preuss art students paint portraits of the performers. These paintings are incorporated into a community mural that is displayed at Mandeville Auditorium during the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus Nee Commission premiere concerts.
