You are invited to a special Voice Masterclass led by Metropolitan Opera soprano Tasha Hokuao Koontz on Friday, May 15th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Recital Hall at the Conrad Prebys Music Center at UC San Diego.

Participating ensemble members will receive feedback, encouragement and suggestions for expression, presentation, and artistry to gain confidence in their solo performances. Up to six singers will perform.

LJS&C Ensemble members attend free. Public tickets are just $20 and available online.

About Tasha Hokuao Koontz

Recognized by the San Diego Tribune for her “luscious tone” and by Opera Wire for her “secure silvery high notes,” soprano Tasha Koontz has established herself as a versatile performer across opera, symphonic repertoire, and chamber music. She has sung leading roles including Mimì in La Bohème, Violetta in La Traviata, Tosca in Tosca, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. Her stage credits include appearances with the Metropolitan Opera, San Diego Opera, Central City Opera, and Opera on the Avalon. Equally active on the concert stage, she has performed with the San Diego Symphony, La Jolla Symphony & Chorus, California Chamber Orchestra, Helena Symphony, and Glacier Symphony Orchestra. In 2026 she returns to San Diego Opera to make her role debut as Berta in The Barber of Seville conducted by Maestro Yves Abel. At the end of the season she will make her debut with Hawai’i Opera Theatre singing the role of Hana Hooper Ha’alilio in the world premiere of The Sheltering Tree.
