You are invited to a special Voice Masterclass presented by the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus in collaboration with Sacra/Profana, led by VOCES8 soprano MaryRuth Miller on Friday, November 14 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Recital Hall at the Conrad Prebys Music Center at UC San Diego. (directions)
Ensemble members can attend as observers or sign-up to perform during the class. Performers will receive feedback, encouragement and suggestions for expression, presentation, and artistry to gain confidence in their solo performances. Up to six participants will perform.
About MaryRuth Miller
Praised by the Boston Musical Intelligencer for her “clear soprano” and “tasteful dramatic interpretation”, MaryRuth Miller has appeared throughout North America as a concert soloist and choral artist. MaryRuth is a founding member of the newest VOCES8 Foundation ensemble, Lyyra. In 2024-2025, she joined VOCES8 as a substitute soprano for performances in the US, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Singapore, Australia (Sydney Opera House) and the UK (BBC Proms with the Kings Singers, Royal Albert Hall). She also sings with the Handel and Haydn Society Chorus, New York City’s Clarion Choir, Bach Collegium San Diego, and the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus.
An equally passionate soloist, she has recently been featured with Upper Valley Baroque, Pegasus Early Music, San Diego Baroque, the Charlotte Master Chorale, the Baldwin Wallace Bach Festival, and the Oregon Bach Festival. She lives in San Diego, CA.
